"The youth are the future of the church... A church without youth is a church without a future." (His Holiness Pope Shenouda III) The youth at Virgin Mary Church comprise of over 40 youth who make a strong presence in the church. The youth are mainly university aged students and young professionals. The church prides itself in the active participation of its youth in all church events. The group enjoy spending time together in these event as well as organising their own regular social activities including: youth dinners, BBQ’s, movie nights, retreats, camps and conventions.  | Youth Meeting |

Each year, a convention is held for the church youth to spend a few days discussing a topic, benefiting from the Word of God and socialising in a spiritual environment. The last convention was held from the 24-27th of December 2008 in the Sunshine Coast, with the theme being: The Great “I AM” (see The Great I AM Program 2008). This is one of the greatest names of our Lord Jesus Christ, and is referred to many times in the Holy Bible, reinforcing His holiness and divinity. Jesus said, “I am the Bread of Life” (John 6:35); “I am the Light of the world” (John 8:12; 9:5); “I am the Good Shepherd” (John 10:11, 14); “I am the Resurrection and Life” (John 11:25-26); “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life” (John 14:6). Our theme song was We Will Glorify (By Twila Paris), and Spiritual Fathers who attended this youth convention included: HG Bishop Daniel, Fr Augustinos Nada, Fr Arsanious Barsoum, Fr Yacoub El-Antony, Fr David Mahrous and Fr Moussa El-Antony, as well as approximately 50 youth. It was an awesome time where we grew in the knowledge and love of God, and shared some funny moments while canoeing, gokarting, and even had a 'Thank God You're Here' night!
