Throughout its many centuries of existence, the Coptic Orthodox Church has kept the spirit of the apostolic fathers within its prayers and traditions. The Divine Liturgy is no exception to this. "In preparation of the blessed sacrament of Eucharist, a collection of biblical quotations and writings of the Church fathers are presented through traditional chants. The Divine Liturgy is prayed in rememberance of the Last Supper that our Lord shared with His disciples where He taught us that the offertory bread and wine become His Holy Body and Blood through the action of His Holy Spirit: "For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed" (John 6:55). | Weekly Schedule |
