 | Church Fetes |
Each year, the church holds their annual fete to raise money for the church and poor. Last year, the fete introduced the public to authentic Egyptian food, sweets and drinks as well as entertaining all who attended with rides, face painting, games, a raffle, introduction and tour of the church, henna painting, coloured hair spraying and many more activities. Among the attendees were over 200 people from the community, Mr Mark Furner, Member of Parliament for the National Labor Party, and also Mr Ben Elliot, Westpac State Manager, who made a generous donation to the church. A total of $9000 was raised in 2008, and in 2007, $5000 was collected. Thank you!!!

Our next fundraising event includes the annual Church Fete which will be held some time in September or October this year at Virgin Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, Calamvale.

 | Dinner for the poor: |
On Saturday the 28th of March 2009, the church hosted a dinner to raise money for the poor people of Egypt. A speech was made by Father David, as well as a powerpoint presentation shown about where the money raised will be going. The Women's Committee of the church arranged for a banquet of Egyptian food to be prepared and tickets were sold at a donation amount. As well as food, gifts were donated and auctioned for this cause. Items included a weekend holiday, free car tinting, and much more! This was a blessed event and as a result of people's efforts and generosity to give to those who are less fortunate, a total of $10,000 was raised! Thank you to all those who particiapted in helping God's people.
On the 2nd of November 2008, the young teenagers and church youth organised a BBQ to raise money for CanTeen, who are an Australian Organisation for Young People Living With Cancer. They conduct camps and counseling for young adults who have been diagnosed with this illness, as well as for people who are living with family members with cancer. As well as a BBQ, other items sold included bandanna's, pens and badges. They successfully raised a total of $500 which has been gratefully recognized by the foundation with an appreciation certificate. It was a great way to help God's people and share in serving the needs of the community in which we live in. To see photos of the fundraising event for people with cancer, click here.
Each year, a chocolate drive is held to raise money for the Sunday School camp which is held in December/January each year. The money raised helps pay for things such as food, accommodation and activities, and ensures the children pay a minimal fee. Through the money raised, the children also receive free admission to a theme park. At the last camp, the children went to Aussie World where everyone had a great time! Approximately $3000 is collected each year by our Sunday School children and youth. Well done to all who took part!
